SEO Methodology
How Apzom Digital actually approaches SEO.
Our search work follows a documented sequence: audit the foundation, understand intent, fix what blocks crawling and comprehension, build topical depth, make the brand legible to answer engines and AI, then measure against commercial outcomes.
Why we publish our methodology
Most agencies treat their process as proprietary. We publish ours because a client who understands the reasoning makes better decisions, asks sharper questions and is far harder to mislead — by us or by the next agency.
Nothing below is secret. The difficulty in SEO has never been knowing what to do; it is doing it consistently, in the right order, and being honest about what is and is not working.
Foundation
1. Technical SEO and site architecture
Search engines have to be able to reach, render and understand a page before anything else matters. We start here because content strategy built on a broken foundation wastes months.
- Crawl and index analysis — what is being found, what is being ignored, and why
- Rendering checks, because a page that needs JavaScript to show its content may not be read as intended
- Core Web Vitals and mobile usability, which affect both ranking and conversion
- Site architecture and URL structure so authority flows to commercially important pages
- Canonicalisation, pagination and parameter handling to prevent duplicate signals
- Internal linking as a deliberate structure rather than an accident of navigation
2. Search intent and topic research
Keyword volume is the least useful number in SEO. What matters is what the searcher is trying to accomplish, and whether the page you are offering resolves it.
We classify target queries by intent — informational, commercial investigation, transactional, navigational — then map exactly one page to each intent cluster. That mapping is what prevents cannibalisation, where two of your own pages compete and neither wins.
3. On-page and content depth
An optimised page answers the query completely and obviously. In practice that means the answer appears early, the structure is scannable, and supporting detail is genuinely useful rather than padding written to reach a word count.
- Titles and headings written for the searcher, with the query family reflected naturally
- A direct answer near the top — useful for readers and necessary for answer engines
- Semantic coverage of the subtopics a complete answer requires
- Internal links from supporting content into the commercial page it supports
- Image optimisation, descriptive filenames and meaningful alt text
Beyond blue links
4. Entity, AEO and GEO work
Search is no longer only a list of results. Answer engines extract answers and AI assistants synthesise recommendations, and both depend on clarity rather than keyword density.
Entity SEO
Making the brand unambiguous — consistent facts, structured data and clear relationships between company, services, people and location.
AEO
Structuring content answer-first so it can be extracted cleanly by featured snippets and AI overviews.
GEO
Making the brand legible and citable to generative systems, so they describe and recommend it accurately.
5. Structured data
Schema does not make a page rank, but it removes ambiguity about what the page is and what the business is. We implement only markup supported by content that is genuinely visible on the page — marking up invisible or non-existent content violates search guidelines and risks manual action.
In practice that usually means Organization and LocalBusiness at site level, WebPage and Service on commercial pages, FAQPage where real questions and answers are visible, and Article on editorial content.
6. Local search, where relevant
For businesses with a location or defined service area, local visibility is ranked by a different signal set — proximity, prominence, consistent business information and Google Business Profile completeness. That work is covered in detail on our Local SEO services page.
7. Measurement and iteration
We report rankings, but we do not judge success by them. The question is whether organic search is producing qualified enquiries at a sustainable cost, and rankings are only one input to that.
- Baseline established before work begins, so change is attributable
- Conversion tracking verified — untrustworthy data produces confident wrong decisions
- Monthly reporting on traffic, enquiries and the pages driving them
- A named next priority every month rather than an open-ended retainer
Honest limits
What this methodology does not promise
No agency controls Google. We do not guarantee positions, we cannot prevent algorithm updates, and we will not claim a result we cannot attribute. Where a competitor has a decade of authority in a market you have just entered, we will say that the realistic path is longer rather than sell you a shortcut that does not exist.
Common questions
About our SEO approach
How does Apzom Digital approach SEO?
In a documented sequence: technical foundation first, then search-intent mapping, then on-page and content depth, then entity, AEO and GEO work, supported by structured data and measured against enquiries rather than rankings alone.
How long does SEO take?
Early movement typically appears in 8 to 12 weeks, with meaningful commercial results in 4 to 6 months. Technical fixes can land quickly; authority compounds slowly. Competitive markets take longer and we will say so upfront.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. Google does not sell placement and rankings shift constantly. We commit to the work, a documented method and honest reporting on what it produces.
Is this methodology the same for every client?
The sequence is consistent; the weighting is not. A technically sound site with thin content spends its time differently to a content-rich site with crawl problems. The audit determines the emphasis.
How is AEO different from traditional SEO?
Traditional SEO competes for a position in a list. AEO structures content so it can be extracted as the answer itself. Both matter now, and they optimise for different things — clarity and extractability versus authority and relevance.
